Primary Transition

Transition to High School is an important step in a child’s education and we work hard at Allerton High School to make this process a successful and happy one.

Year 6 students join us from over 20 primary schools each year and members of staff from Allerton High school visit each school to meet students and discuss strengths and areas for development of each individual. Where there are only a handful of students joining us from a school they are invited with their parents to a coffee morning where they can begin to make new friends.

We work closely with our main feeder schools on a project about Edward Jenner that bridges the last weeks of Year 6 and the first weeks on Year 7. Students have also been involved this year in the making of a film about transition to secondary school and others have been involved in performance poetry.

Our Transition Day in July allows students to spend a day with us experiencing life at secondary school. As well as being involved in lessons, they meet their new coaching groups and where possible the member of staff who will be their coach. Last year students were also involved in a fantastic cooking competition that saw staff and students create a dish and vote on their favourite dish.

For more information on the Transition process please contact Mrs Clare Campbell the Year 7 Achievement Leader.

Year 7 Welcome Evening

This evening gives parent/carers the opportunity to meet with their child's Coach and find out a little more about the running of the school. In addition, short presentations are delivered by the senior leadership team on Achievement, E-safety, Positive Behaviour and Homework. Links to copies of these presentations are given below.
